Full rack colocation at Xenax Cloud is ₹74,999 a month for a 42U cabinet with 10 kW of A+B power, a 1 Gbps uplink, unlimited cross-connects and unlimited remote hands. If you need less than a full rack, space starts at ₹3,999 for a single rack unit.
Those are the numbers most colocation pages make you request a quote for. The rest of this guide explains what actually drives them, so you can tell whether a quote you have been given elsewhere is reasonable.
What colocation costs, tier by tier
Colocation is billed on three things and nothing else: the physical space your hardware occupies, the power it draws, and the bandwidth it uses. Everything else — cooling, security, monitoring — is included because the facility has to provide it anyway.
| Tier | Space | Power | Bandwidth | Cross-connects | Remote hands | Price / month |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1U Rack Unit | 1U (1.75 in) | 350 W A+B | 100 Mbps | 1 cross-connect | 2 hrs/mo | ₹3,999 |
| 2U Rack Space | 2U (3.5 in) | 700 W A+B | 500 Mbps | 1 cross-connect | 4 hrs/mo | ₹6,999 |
| 10U Suite | 10U (17.5 in) | 3 kW A+B | 1 Gbps | 2 cross-connects | 8 hrs/mo | ₹22,999 |
| Half Cabinet | 21U (Half 42U) | 5 kW A+B | 1 Gbps | 4 cross-connects | 16 hrs/mo | ₹39,999 |
| Full Cabinet 42U | 42U (Full 42U) | 10 kW A+B | 1 Gbps | Unlimited | Unlimited | ₹74,999 |
Every tier includes dual A+B power feeds, biometric access, DCIM monitoring and a 99.5% uptime SLA. The differences between them are space, how much power that space is allowed to draw, and how much of an engineer’s time comes with it.
Which tier fits what
- 1U Rack Unit — A single 1U server, firewall or small NAS. ₹3,999 a month.
- 2U Rack Space — A 2U rack server or a GPU node. ₹6,999 a month.
- 10U Suite — A small cluster or an edge stack. ₹22,999 a month.
- Half Cabinet — A network PoP or hyperconverged setup. ₹39,999 a month.
- Full Cabinet 42U — A full rack or a private cage. ₹74,999 a month.
Why full-rack quotes vary so much
Two providers can quote wildly different numbers for what sounds like the same 42U cabinet. Four things usually explain the gap.
Power is the real meter
Space is cheap; power is not. A cabinet sold with 3 kW costs far less than the same cabinet with 10 kW, because the facility has to build and cool for the draw. When you compare quotes, compare the kW allowance first — a cheaper rack with half the power is not cheaper, it is smaller. The 42U tier above is provisioned at 10 kW A+B, which is what a fully populated rack of modern servers actually needs.
A+B feeds or a single feed
A+B means two independent power paths, so a failure on one side does not take your hardware down. Some quotes are for a single feed and read cheaper for that reason alone. Every tier here is A+B.
Bandwidth: committed or burst
A “1 Gbps” port can mean a 1 Gbps physical port with a much smaller committed rate, billed hard once you exceed it. Ask what is committed and what happens above it before comparing on price.
Remote hands, and what counts as an hour
Colocation means your hardware is somewhere you are not. Sooner or later someone has to reseat a drive at two in the morning. Included remote-hands time is the difference between that being a phone call and being a flight — 2 hours a month at 1U, unlimited on a full cabinet.
Colocation, dedicated servers, or cloud
Colocation is the right answer when you already own hardware, or when your workload is steady enough that owning is cheaper than renting. It is the wrong answer when you want to stop thinking about hardware at all.
- You own the servers already — colocation, every time. You are paying for space, power and a network, not for someone else’s depreciation.
- You want the hardware to be somebody else’s problem — a dedicated server from ₹7,999 a month covers the same isolation without the capital outlay.
- Your load changes week to week — a VPS from ₹599 scales in minutes; a rack does not.
What to check before you sign
- The kW allowance, not just the rack size.
- Whether power is A+B or a single feed.
- The committed bandwidth rate, and the price per GB above it.
- Included remote-hands hours, and the hourly rate beyond them.
- Cross-connect charges — some facilities bill every one.
- The uptime SLA and what it actually pays out when missed.
Where the racks are
Xenax Cloud colocates in its Indian data centre. For traffic inside India and across Asia that is the shortest path you can buy; for audiences in North America or Europe, a dedicated server in the region you are serving will usually beat colocating further away.

Questions people ask
How much is a full rack of colocation per month?
A 42U cabinet with 10 kW A+B power, a 1 Gbps uplink and unlimited cross-connects is ₹74,999 a month. Half a cabinet at 21U and 5 kW is ₹39,999.
What is the cheapest colocation option?
A single 1U rack unit at ₹3,999 a month, with 350 W of A+B power, 100 Mbps and two hours of remote hands. That suits one server, a firewall or a small NAS.
Is power included in the colocation price?
Yes, up to the allowance for the tier — 350 W at 1U rising to 10 kW on a full cabinet. Power is what separates the tiers, so it is worth sizing honestly rather than by rack units alone.
Can I bring my own hardware?
That is what colocation is. You supply the servers; the facility supplies the space, dual power, cooling, the network and the hands to touch it when you cannot.
